MODULE 4 — THE KINGDOM MANDATE GIVEN TO MAN
(Genesis 1:26–28 — God’s original assignment for humanity)
This is the foundation of ALL Kingdom teaching.
If you understand this module, your entire Christian life will make sense.
🔰 4.1 — God’s Blueprint for Humanity
Before God formed man’s body from the dust,
before God breathed the breath of life,
before Adam opened his eyes…
God spoke man’s purpose into existence.
“Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness; AND let them have dominion…” — Genesis 1:26
Notice something powerful:
God did NOT say:
✘ “Let Us make man to worship Us”
✘ “Let Us make man to sing songs”
✘ “Let Us make man to serve Us”
✘ “Let Us make man to be religious”
He said ONE purpose:
“…Let them have dominion.”
Religion hides this.
Tradition ignores this.
Satan fears this.
But the Bible reveals this.
👑 4.2 — The Two-Part Identity of Humanity
God created mankind with two inseparable components:
1. Image — nature, character, moral likeness
2. Likeness — function, authority, ability to act like God
In other words:
✔ Image = who we ARE
✔ Likeness = what we can DO
You were created to:
✔ reflect God
✔ represent God
✔ reproduce God’s nature in the earth
This is why Satan attacked Adam —
he wanted to destroy the image and block the dominion.
🌍 4.3 — The Purpose of Creating Earth
Earth was not made to be a religious world.
It was designed to be:
a colony of Heaven.
A colony is:
✔ ruled by the laws of the home country
✔ provided for by the King
✔ governed by representatives
✔ established to expand the influence of the Kingdom
So God created earth as:
🌍 a physical environment
🏞 shaped to reflect His invisible nature
👑 ruled by humans carrying His image
📜 governed by Kingdom law
🕊 filled with His Spirit
Heaven is the home country.
Earth was intended to be the extension.
🧑⚖️ 4.4 — The Mandate: “Let Them Have Dominion”
God gave dominion:
✔ not to angels
✔ not to animals
✔ not to spirits
✔ not even to Himself (on earth)
He gave it to man.
Note the wording:
God did not say “Let Us have dominion.”
He said “Let THEM have dominion.”
This shows:
✔ God delegated rulership
✔ God transferred authority
✔ God assigned responsibility
✔ God limited His own influence on earth through man
God retains ownership.
Man carries rulership.
That is Kingdom.
🔥 4.5 — Dominion Defined (What God Actually Meant)
Dominion means:
to govern, rule, manage, cultivate, protect, develop, and bring order.
This includes:
- Rulership — exercising authority
- Stewardship — taking responsibility
- Management — organizing creation
- Development — bringing increase
- Protection — guarding from corruption
Dominion is not domination.
Dominion is not control of people.
Dominion is not dictatorship.
Dominion is:
ruling the earth with the heart and nature of God.
🌱 4.6 — The First Kingdom Assignment: SUBDUE the Earth
Genesis 1:28 says:
“…subdue it.”
To subdue means:
✔ bring under alignment
✔ enforce order
✔ resist rebellion
✔ maintain Kingdom culture
✔ push back darkness
God told Adam:
“I gave you dominion,
but you must maintain it.”
Why?
Because even before Adam fell,
there was already rebellion in the universe (Lucifer and fallen angels).
Adam was meant to extend Heaven’s order over the whole earth.
👥 4.7 — The Mandate Included MULTIPLICATION
God told man:
“Be fruitful and multiply…” (Gen. 1:28)
This is NOT just biological.
It means:
✔ reproduce God’s image
✔ multiply Kingdom citizens
✔ spread Kingdom culture
✔ raise sons & daughters who know their identity
✔ expand influence of Heaven across the earth
God wanted the whole world filled with His image-bearers.
🌏 4.8 — The Goal: Fill the Earth with Kingdom Life
God said:
“…and fill the earth…”
He did not want Heaven full and earth empty.
He wanted:
✔ Heaven → source
✔ Earth → expression
God’s will in eternity:
Heaven
God’s will in time:
Heaven on earth
Jesus confirmed this:
**“Your Kingdom come.
Your will be done ON EARTH as it is in heaven.” — Matthew 6:10**
This was not a poetic prayer.
It was a Kingdom mandate.
🏛 4.9 — Man Was Created to Be: Kings, Priests, and Ambassadors
From Genesis 1 alone, God makes man:
A king → with dominion
A priest → with relationship & access
An ambassador → representing Heaven
These three identities shape Kingdom life.
🔥 4.10 — The Kingdom Mandate Is Still the Purpose Today
God never changed His mind.
Even after the fall:
✔ the mandate remained
✔ the purpose remained
✔ the assignment remained
✔ the dominion plan remained
That’s why:
Jesus did not come to bring a religion.
He came to restore the Kingdom (Luke 4:43).
This is why believers struggle:
✔ We preach salvation
✔ Jesus preached the Kingdom
✔ We preach church
✔ Jesus preached the Kingdom
✔ We preach escape
✔ Jesus preached rulership
When we return to Kingdom, we return to purpose.
✍️ REFLECTION QUESTIONS
- What does dominion mean to you personally?
- Why is it significant that God said “Let THEM have dominion”?
- How does the Kingdom mandate change the way you view your life and purpose?
- What does it mean to subdue the earth today?
- In what ways can you reproduce Kingdom culture around you?
🙏 PRAYER
“Father, thank You for creating me in Your image and giving me dominion.
Restore in me a revelation of my authority.
Teach me to rule with Your heart, wisdom, and love.
Let Your Kingdom come through my life.
Help me fulfill the mandate assigned to humanity.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
